“There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.”
Arthur Conan Doyle, The Boscombe Valley Mystery
Following my posts on the 1961 Racing Car Show and the Racing Car Show Yimkin Years I recently bought a 1961 edition of Motor Racing Magazine which is dedicated to the 1961 Racing Car Show. As with the 1961 Racing Car Show brochure Yimkin is recorded as exhibiting at stand No.28 and another reference is made to a new chassis on display for what is described as an entirely new project:
"Last year, the 1960 geodetic frame was included on the stand. The frame this year is for an entirely new project, details of which can be obtained on the stand from the staff on duty, Mrs P. Herbert, A. Sim, H. Hermon, E. Parkin and L. Fenne".
This is the first time I've heard of an H. Hermon, E. Parkin or L. Fenne mentioned in connection wth Yimkin so I'd love to hear from anyone who's in contact or directly related to them. Leaflets do pop up from time to time from other stands at the show so perhaps something similar was available from the Yimkin stand?
Either way it does suggest that there was at least one Yimkin chassis produced in 1960/61 that's unaccounted for with references in the December issue of Sports Car and Lotus Owner, The 1961 Motor Racing Magazine 'Racing Car Show Issue' and the 1961 Racing Car Show Brochure. Let's hope it turns out to be mine!
